Internationally acclaimed artist Hooman Derakhshandeh creates paintings that explore the intricacies of life in present-day Iran. Much of his oeuvre concentrates on the duality and contradictions of contemporary Iranian life. A particular fascination for the artist lies in the role of women in contemporary Iranian society and their relationship to their environment. His mostly colourful paintings are a fertile ground for the exploration of the many facets of women. His Esfumato paintings are a direct expression of the contrast between the familiar and the unfamiliar and the duality of our imaginations.
